Training Schedules (Senior & Juvenile)

SENIOR TRAINING

Tuesday:
Open session with Joe Chawke,
UL track, warm up from 6PM, with session starting at 6:15PM

Thursday:
Senior Training UL open to all AAI club members.  Starting at the new time of 6:30PM.

Friday:
‘Meet and Train’ session in Mungret at 6:15PM.  We meet on the road alongside the Gaelscoil leading up to the Educate Together Primary School, turn left at the lights just before Mungret village.  

Open to beginners as well as advanced. Suitable for walkers, couch-to-5k hopefuls and experienced or advanced runners alike. The emphasis of this session is on beginners.  We train by running along a 400m stretch of straight flat road, so no one is left behind.

Juvenile Training

There is a €2 charge per athlete on the Wednesday and Thursday sessions (no charge at UL on Saturday morning).  

All children born in 2014 and upwards can join our club for this season – i.e. all athletes who be 8 years of age in 2022, born in 2014 or earlier. This is the minimum age for joining. 

Due to the ongoing issues caused by Covid-19 restrictions, our training sessions and locations have been modified due to training ground availability and suitability.   

Training for all athletes U9 to U11 (born 2011-2014) now takes place on Wednesday evenings at 6:30PM in Garryowen Rugby Club.  This training will take place on the Astroturf pitch, and regular runners are appropriate to wear (not spikes).

Any athlete in the U9-U11 group that cannot make Wednesday evening due to clashes with other activities can attend on Thursday in the Crescent Comp, times below.  Please only attend this session if Wednesday is not possible for you as we cannot handle everyone on Thursday evening.

 

Training for all athletes U12 to U18 (born 2002-2010) takes place on Thursday evening at 7:15-8:15PM in the Crescent Comp.  New time due to lack of availability on the Astroturf pitch.

Saturday morning training for all juvenile athletes is at 9:00-10:15AM on the track at UL. 

 

The old training schedule below will not apply until the Covid-19 crisis has passed. 

Monday 7-8pm in Crescent Comp ( 6pm for young athletes aged 14 and upwards) –  €3 contribution per child towards training facilities 
Thursday 6:30-7:30pm Crescent Comp – this session is for athletes who are competing on a  regular basis – €3 contribution per child towards training facilities
Saturday 10-11.15am UL track, no charge
Sunday. 9am at UL Track – relay training
