In very warm conditions that exceeded 25 degrees at times last Saturday there was a good turnout of Dooneen athletes for this run in aid of the Tracy Piggott led Charity - Run to Africa.
Top Dooneen finisher was Cathal O'Conor in a creditable fourth place with Shane Lynch in 8th place, his first time running this distance. Several of the Tracy Roche trained Fit4Life training group including Karena O'Mahoney also competed and finished well up in the pack. Also participating and managing to complete the course despite a nasty injury around the 9k mark was Kevin O'Connor who again did well in his category.
After the race there was some very welcome refreshments in the Bunratty Manor Hotel where local proprietors Noel and Fiona Wallace were very generous in providing tasty food and refeshments to all participants. Well done to Sean Stack former Clare hurling star and local legent and all his helpers who made this event possible.
