Triple Gold for Jane Dickenson on day 1 of the Munster Indoors. Print E-mail
Three gold medals for Jane Dickenson marked the highlight for Dooneen on the first day of the Munster u14 to u19 Indoor finals in Nenagh today. Jane one of the most talented athletes in the club, showed a clear return to form, when winning the 60m, 200m and then leading the girls u19 relay team to victory.

Joining Jane with gold medal winning performances was one of the most committed athletes in the club, UCC student Nathan Jege, in his specialist long jump event, he was just 0.03m short of his recent PB. Also winning gold today was the battling Jessica Coyne who showed all her usual guts and determination, in winning the 800m which she used to prepare for the all Ireland schools XC finals, next week in CIT Cork.

In the u15 800m the highly promising Sarah Lannigan was a clear winner in her heat and finished second in the final, before dashing across town to support Ard Scoil Ris in a thrilling Harty Cup final reply which again ended in a tie. Shannen Ryan another athlete destined for CIT next week, stepped down to the shorter 800m and took bronze in a race won by the impressive Harriet Flynn from Shannon.

Fiona O’Shea was impressive in taking 2nd in the u15 60m and 3rd in the long jump, while Aishling Hehir, Emma O’Donnell, and Clodagh O’Mahoney were also impressive in the 60m. In the hurdles Cillian Ryan was an impressive 5th while Billy O’Hora was going well but came a croper at the third hurdle in the final.

In the 4x200m relays there were three gold medal wins in the u19 girls, u17 boys, amd u15 boys while the u17 girls got up for third spot.
