The 32nd AGM of Dooneen Athletic club was held in Mungret GAA Club hall last night at which there was a satisfactory attendance. The big news on the night was that Tom O'Connor our excellent chairman from Clarina, has had to stand down after a number of years of loyal service. During his tenure the club made great progress on and off the track, but perhaps he will best be associated with the work done around the club's 30th anniversary celebrations which was a great success. While standing down at this time Tom reassured all that he would be available to help out whenever possible.

The enviable task of filling  Tom's shoes for the year ahead falls to John Hickey another able clubman and he will be assisted by new Vice Chariman PJ Varley, whom many will remember pipped Liam O'Hora in a thrilling county championships in UL some weeks ago. At the end of the night, the year ahead looks in safe hands with a healthy mix of experience and new blood.

The meeting concluded with arrangements for the County Indoors in Nenagh being sorted out, in the absence of Phil Roche who will be in Dublin for the coach of the year awards. All the club wish Phil every success in what would be a well merited award and a great way to round off what was an excellent year.
