Sunday 10th April last on fine afternoon at the Community Games County X Country Finals at Rathkeale a number of Dooneen Athletes booked their place in the National Community Games Cross Country Relay finals in Athlone.

Cathal Locke competed in 5 events at the U.9 to U13 Munster Juvenile Indoors Sat 19th Feb and Sun 20th Feb 2011 and took home five medals. Cathal won 60m Sprint and the long Jump was 2nd in the hurdles 3rd in the high jump and 2nd in th relay. Cathal is defintely a star of the future to watch out for.
U.13 Girls Caoimhe Brown got 2nd in sprint and was followed by Sarah O Neill 3rd. These girls had great relay and took the gold joined by Susan O Neill and Laura O Shea. Laura also made the sprint final. Susan O' Neill came in 3rd on th 600m. In the U9 Abbey Lappin in her first Munsters got 3rd in the long Jump. Well done to Liam Lynch who made both the 60m and 600m Final. Congrats to all the young ahtletes and especially those who made the finals and took part in the medal winning relay teams.

Congratulations to Aidan & Tracey, who completed the John Treacy 10 miler today in Dungarvan. It's early season yet and both runners ran very respectable times of 74 mins and 63 mins respectively. Both are looking forward to a busy season of racing in 2012. |

Some of the Dooneen AC family, freinds and supporters at the Munster Juvenile Star Awards in Ennis on Saturday last.
There was a fine turnout of clubs and athletes from all over Munster for the annual Star Awards held at the Auburn Lodge Hotel in Ennis last night. Pride of place on the night went to Greg O'Shea who for the second year in a row, won an award for leading juvenile track athlete in Limerick and is now close to cathching up with Nathan Jege who won three consecutive awards some years ago.
Some of Greg's achievements during 2011 included:
- 1st Munster T&F u17 200m
- 1st North Munster Schools 100m & 200m
- 1st Munster Schools 100m & 200m
- 2nd All ireland Schools 100m & 200m
- 2nd Tailteann Games 100m & 200m
- European Youth Olympics 6th 100m
- Member of National 4x100m Record team at European Youth Olympics
Leading cross country athlete Jessica Coyne was the deserving winner of the best female juvenile cross country athlete for her fine performances throughout 2011.
Some of Jessica's achievements in 2011 included:
- 1st Munster Cross Country u17 & u18
- 1st Munster Schools Cross Country
- 1st Munster schools track 800m and 1500m
- 1st All ireland schools 800m
- 1st All ireland u17 1500m and 2nd 800m
- 1st Community Games 1500m
- Represented ireland in the Celtic Games Cross Country and T&F.
Congratulations also to other Limerick award winners on the night including Michael Carmody, Limerick AC, Sarag Lavin and Maria Heelan Emerald AC, and masters award winners husband and wife team Carmel and Micheal MacDomhnaill of West Limerick AC.
