Newsflash

Success at Cross Country Uneven Age Championships in UL.
Dooneen u9 Boys L-R Greg, Liam and Shane.
The Uneven Age and Intermediate County Championships took place in UL today with a much improved turnout in all races by Dooneen athletes. Highlight of the day was the performance of young Liam O'Hora and PJ Varley who completed the final race of the day without the need for the club's defibrilator. Apart from this the day started off well with an excellent win by exciting young talent of Liam Wilson in the Boys u9 race. This was followed not long after with victory for his cousin, all Ireland champion Dylan Sheehan in the boys u13 race, repeating his success of last season. Dylan was closely followed by champion sprinter Mark Varley for a nice one/two.

Tailteann Games 1500m champion Shannen Ryan looked in good form in winning the girls u17 with ease and Tracey Roche proved too strong for the field in the intermediate race.  Jessica Coyne did well to take second to the in form Amy O'Donoghue of Emerald in the U15 and Shane Burke looked very comfortable in taking second in the u15 boys event. In the boys u17 newcomer Shane Lynch on his debut race, was pipped for second having battled well and confirmed he is an athlete for the future. Team of the day must surely be the boys u11 team led home in 3rd place by Brian Ryan who had a team of 13 in action.  Congratulations to all - more pics and detailed results to follow.
