Day 1 & 2 National Championships

In the U13 age group, Emer Purtill won gold in the shot put and was 4th in the long jump. Megan O’Shea won bronze in the long jump. In the U14 category, Emer’s sister Meabh won gold in the 200m, bronze in the discus and reached the final of the long jump. Eanna Ni hUigin won silver in the 80m and bronze in the 200m. Molly O’Mahony also ran well in the 200m heats. Eimer Ryan reached the final of the shot put and javelin. The U15 boys were represented by Sean Reilly who came very close to a medal, 4th in the discus. Dennis Matthews, Yanna Leahy and Alan McCutcheon represented the U16 age category. Dennis was 4th in the 100m final. Yanna Leahy competed in the final of the shot and javelin, Alan also reached the final of the 250m hurdles. Aimee Ryan and Debbie Lawel both competed in the U17 sprints, both girls reaching the finals – Aimee in the 100m and 200m and Debbie in the 100m. Sarah Hosey was 4th in the U18 800m final, Kelvin O’Carroll was 5th in 800m, both very strong races. Maria Campbell also ran in the U18 category reaching the final of the 300m hurdles.
