Important notice for juvenile parents

Posted on Aug 25, 2020 in Uncategorized

Juvenile athletes who resumed training in June/July were required to follow strict Covid-19 protocols as set down by Athletics Ireland. For those who did not indicate they were returning at the time, you must also follow those protocols.

Please, under no circumstances should parents bring children to training on any given night without having notified us of their intention to resume. We have guidelines in place which must be followed in relation to what children bring to training, contact tracing details, numbers in groups. Venues and times have also changed. Any queries in relation to resumption of training for existing paid up members, please email phil_roche@hotmail.com or verenatarpey@yahoo.ie

In relation to new members, we cannot accept new members at present, but we intend to decide on this in the coming weeks and we will issue a statement.

Dooneen Training and Events suspended until further notice

Posted on Mar 12, 2020 in Uncategorized

Athletics Ireland continues to closely monitor the Coronavirus outbreak and the advice from the National Public Health Emergency Team and the HSE. The health and safety of the Athletics community is our priority and we are determined to be calm, calculated and proactive regarding precautions to limit the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Athletics Ireland is therefore instructing all affiliates to suspend all athletic competitions and events with immediate effect. We understand that this decision will result in inconvenience and disappointment to many athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers and supporters. However, we are sure that all will understand that the decision is taken in the best interests, not just of the athletics community, but of the Country. Club training is down to the discretion of the individual club, but the recommendation from Athletics Ireland is that club training sessions be suspended at this time.
