Irish Life Health National Novice & Juvenile Uneven Age Cross-Country Championships

These championships were held in Dunboyne on Sunday.

In the U17 girls’ race, Dooneen were represented by the quartet of Sarah Butler, Maria Campbell, Sarah Dillon, and Sarah Hosey – it was great to have 4 athletes who have come up through the juvenile ranks together competing in the U17 All-Ireland race. First home from the club was Maria Campbell, who was part of the bronze medal-winning Munster team, followed by Sarah Hosey, Sarah Dillon, and Sarah Butler.

Kevin O’Grady produced a great performance in the U19 boys’ race, finishing 11th and helping the Munster team to a bronze medal.

Congratulations and well done to everybody!

 

 

Newmarket 5K

This race took place in Cork yesterday, with a very large field of over 300 participants. Well done to Joe O’Brien, who ran a PB of 16:54, and to Henry Downes, who ran 19:29.

Shane O’Sullivan, Brian Halpin, James Connolly, Shona O’Flynn, Alison Flynn, Claire Knight (who achieved a PB), Seamus O’Flynn, and Aly Hogan O’Curry all ran Limerick parkrun, while John Sheehan, Ger Meehan, Catherine Sheehan, Eileen Reeves (who achieved a PB), Marion O’Halloran, and Meena Verma ran Mungret parkrun.

Dooneen Christmas Night Out
This year’s Christmas night out will take place on Saturday December 14th in O’Dwyer’s Bar, Wolfe Tone Street at 9pm. Finger food will be served compliments of O’Dwyer’s. All welcome!

Border Half-Marathon 2019

There were over 400 athletes taking part in the second year of this event. Weather conditions were perfect for running – cool, but sunny and very calm. The men’s race was won by Darren Dunne of Nenagh Triathlon Club in a great time of 1:13:47 and the women’s race was won by Fiona Mangan of Galway Triathlon Club in 1:29:27. Dermot Kearns was first home for Dooneen and third overall in 1:17:39, followed by Thomas Klimas in 1:19:40, Niall Harris in 1:23:47, Rob McCarthy in a PB of 1:32:54, Karen Raine in a PB of 1:36:36, Alison Flynn in 1:37:23, John Shier in a PB of 1:49:12, Agnes Klimas in 1:55:08 and Eileen Reeves in 1:57:55. Well done to everybody.

Limerick Sports Partnership Blanket 5K

This annual event took place yesterday in U.L. Among those participating were Conor Lovett, Colin O’Flynn, Colin O’Flynn Jr., and Shona O’Flynn. Well done to all.

Irish Life Health National Juvenile Even Age, Junior & Senior Cross-Country Championships

These championships took place in Abbotstown on Sunday. Congratulations and well done to Maria Campbell and Kevin O’Grady, who ran great races in the U16 Girls’ and Junior Men’s categories.

Great Glenville Run

Almost 500 athletes took part in this very popular road race hosted by Watergrasshill A.C. on Sunday. Cormac Downes ran 23:33 and Henry Downes ran 24:54, finishing 3rd in the O50 category. Well done to both athletes.

Run In The Dark 5K & 10K

This event took place in UL on Wednesday evening. Among those running were Mary Duggan, Ger Meehan, and John Shier. Well done to everybody who took part.

Munster Masters Cross-Country Championships

These championships took place in Beaufort, Co. Kerry on Sunday. First home from the club was Rosemary Ryan, followed by Shóna Keane (2nd in her age category), Tracey Johnson, Karen Raine, and Verena Tarpey. Dooneen won the club team category. The Limerick county team won Munster silver with Fiona Bourke of West Limerick A.C.

James Connolly represented Dooneen in the men’s race, and was part of the Limerick county team who finished 2nd.

New York Marathon
Two Dooneen members took on the New York Marathon on Sunday. Shane Ryan ran a huge PB of 2:59:25 and Katherine Reddan finished in 5:00:44. Congratulations and well done to both athletes.

Limerick Athletics County Indoor Championships

These championships took place in Nenagh on Sunday.

Diro and Tessie Lawal, finished 1st and 2nd respectively in the U17 boys’ 60m in 7.34 and 7.68, and also in the 200m in 24.01 and 24.98, followed by Luke Tuohy in 28.34. Luke won the U17 boys’ 400m in 1:08.46.

Shane O’Sullivan finished 3rd in the Senior Men’s 800m in 2:10.32, and 2nd in the 1500m in 4:30.25.
