Please note that all cars and vehicles will have to park at the car parks, none will be allowed down to the yard or near the course. A TALK on SPORT and Exercise Nutrition by Dr Catherine Norton
Dooneen Presents A TALK ON SPORT AND EXERCISE NUTRITION
by Dr Catherine Norton, PhD, RD, RSEN, for members.
Date: Wednesday 16th October 2019 at 7pm
Venue: St Pauls National School, Dooradoyle.
Eircode: V94 Y62V
The talk would be suited to all athletes from U12 upwards, junior, senior and masters, plus parents of athletes of any age.
All are invited to attend next Wednesday at St Paul’s. This is a very
important topic as we have seen improper nutrition and hydration affect
athletes in recent years, especially in early morning sessions and
competitions.
Dr Catherine Norton is a registered dietitian (BSc Human Nutrition & Dietetics) accredited high performance sports and exercise nutritionist (INDI SENG, BDA, SENr), Level 1 Anthropometrist (ISAK) with almost 20 years’ experience in nutrition service provision across health care, the pharmaceutical industry, professional sport, teaching and research (PhD Nut, UL; MA Teaching, Learning UL).
She has extensive research experience in food for health and human performance with particular interest in optimising training adaptations and performance with optimised nutrient support (quantity, quality, distribution and timing relative to a training stimulus). She is also investigating technologies for dietary data collection and assessment, with a particular focus on athletic and active populations.
Catherine returned to the Physical Education & Sport Sciences Department at UL in 2016 and holds the first national appointment in Sport & Exercise Nutrition. She has previously worked with Munster Rugby, intercountry hurling and football teams, Swim Ireland, Irish Amateur Boxing Association and many other disciplines via her consultancy in the Sport Ireland Institute.
