Michal Rejmer 10-Mile Cancelled

With the increase in confirmed cases of COVID-19, the organisers of the Michal Rejmer 10-Mile Road Race have made a decision to cancel this year’s event which was set to take place on Sunday May 24th 2020.
This decision is for the health and safety of all participants and spectators. All registrations processed online for the race will either be valid for our race in May 2021 or refunded. For refunds please contact support@eventmaster.ie with your order ID from Eventmaster.
We would like to thank all participants along with our sponsors, volunteers and committee members for all the hard work and support in organising this year’s race, and we look forward to your continued support for our race in May 2021.

Dooneen A.C. Senior Notes 09/03/2020

National Masters Indoor Championships 

These championships were held in Athlone over the weekend. Ger O’Shea claimed bronze in the M35 200m in 25.54 and silver in the 400m in 55.68. Tony Fitzgerald claimed bronze in the M45 400m in 1:00.13 and silver in the M45 1500m in 4:53.93. Tim Ryan won the M55 400m in 59.55. Shane O’Sullivan claimed bronze in the M35 800m in 2:07.60 and silver in the 1500m in 4:28.04. Congratulations and well done to all of the athletes.  

 

 

Kinvara Rock & Road 10K

This event took place in Galway on Saturday. Well done to Eileen Reeves and Ger Meehan, who ran 55:36 and 55:38 respectively.

National Senior Indoor Championships
These championships were held in Abbottstown over the weekend.
Congratulations to Lilly-Ann O’Hora, who claimed bronze in the
Women’s 60m Hurdles in 8.46 seconds. Liam Hunt finished 4th in the
Men’s 60m Hurdles in 8.57 seconds. Cathal Locke won his heat in the
Men’s 400m in 48.79 seconds, but unfortunately did not make it to
the final. Congratulations and well done to all of the athletes.

Munster 4-Mile Road Championships
These championships took place in Dungarvan on Sunday.
Congratulations to Ann MacPhail, who finished 10th overall claiming
silver in the O45 category in 25:17.

Adare 10K 2020 

Well done to West Limerick A.C. for hosting the Adare 10K on Sunday. Weather conditions for the race were ideal and well over 700 athletes crossed the finish line. The men’s course record was broken by Kevin Maunsell of Clonmel AC in a superb 30:18 and the women’s race was won by Sorcha Nic Dhomhnaill of Donore Harriers and from Newcastle West in a very fast 36:40. First home for Dooneen was Dermot Kearns in 10th place overall and 1st male O/45 in 34:26, followed closely by Andrew McMahon who was 1st male junior in 36:24, Shane Ryan in 37:19, Niall Harris in 38:09, Rosemary Ryan in 38:45 who was 5th lady overall, Henry Downes who was 1st male O/50 in 40:50, Shona O’Flynn in 40:58, Seamus Lynch in 43:17, Jonathan Coleman in 43:33, Karen Raine who was 1st lady O/40 in 43:46, Ronan McAvinue in 43:53, Mike Griffin in 44:23, Joe Chawke in 44:24, Louise Matthews in 45:43, Tracey Johnson in 48:14, Agnes and Thomas Klimas in 48:46, John Shier in 50:53, Marie Keane in 51:15, Katherine Reddan in 59:17, Robert Coll in 57:30, Eileen Reeves in 1:00:11, Ger Meehan 1:00:11, Aly Hogan O’Curry in 1:05:07, and Colin O’Flynn in 1:30:18.
Our ladies won 2nd team prize – the scorers included Rosemary Ryan, Shona O’Flynn, Karen Raine, and Louise Matthews. Our men won 3rd team with Dermot Kearns, Andrew McMahon, Shane Ryan and Niall Harris. Well done to all!!

Club Membership
A big thank you to club members who have renewed their 2020 membership. Club membership for 2020 is overdue since January 31st. Membership has many benefits and also if you are not registered you are not covered by Athletics Ireland insurance and therefore you can’t train with the club or race in any championship race including the Great Limerick run. You can join Dooneen or renew your membership online.

Adult Training takes place at 6:15pm on Tuesday & 7pm on Thursday in UL. Fit4Life/Meet and Train takes place in Mungret at 6:15pm on Fridays. Long run takes place every Sunday at 9am in UL or Cratloe. New members & beginners are always welcome. Contact Dooneen Facebook page for more details.

Juvenile Training
Juvenile training takes place every Monday night at 7pm & every Thursday night at 6.30pm in Crescent Comprehensive. There is also training at the track in UL every Saturday at 10am. Munster Senior & Masters Indoor Championships

These championships were held in Nenagh over the weekend. Rosemary Ryan claimed silver in the O40 3000m in 11:06.65. Ger O’Shea won both the O35 200m and 400m in 26.54 and 58.60 respectively. Shane O’Sullivan won the O35 800m in 2:10 and claimed silver in the 1500m in 4:42.50. Tony Fitzgerald claimed bronze in the O45 400m in 1:01.84 and won the 800m in 2:20. Tim Ryan finished 4th in the O55 60m, claimed silver in the 200m in 27.73, and won the 400m in 1:00.50. Congratulations and well done to all of the athletes.

Michal Rejmer 10-Mile Road Race

Registration is now open for the inaugural Michal Rejmer Memorial 10-Mile Road Race, which will be hosted by Dooneen A.C. on Sunday May 24th starting at Limerick Racecourse, Greenmount Park, Patrickswell, Co. Limerick.

The race route starts at the stunning Limerick Racecourse and will take participants towards Raheen and through the scenic Patrickwell/Crecora countryside over a fast 10-mile loop before finishing again at Limerick Racecourse. The course has been accurately measured using a Jones Counter. This race has an Athletics Ireland permit and will be chip-timed. Every finisher will receive a bespoke medal and goody bag. There is a substantial prize fund of over €2,000 with prizes for the top 5 male and female athletes, first male and female O40, O50 and O60 and first club team. There will also be numerous spot prizes on the day.
