Country Club 5-Mile

There were over 80 athletes taking part in this traditional 5-mile road race hosted by Country Club A.C. on New Year’s Day. Niall Shanahan was first man home in a superb time of 25:20 and first woman home was Sharon Cleere in an excellent time of 29:28. Dermot Kearns was first home for Dooneen in 28:38 followed by Ronan McAvinue in 35:06, Karen Raine in 35:11, Mike Griffin in 35:27, and Robert McCarthy in 36:22. Well done to all.

parkrun

On New Year’s Day, several members took advantage of the once-a-year opportunity to take part in 2 parkruns on one day. Shona O’Flynn, Ger Meehan (who ran his 50th parkrun!), Eileen Reeves, Seamus O’Flynn, and Marion O’Halloran ran both Amager Fælled parkrun and Fælledparken parkrun in Copenhagen, David Rohan ran both Coole parkrun and Lees Road parkrun (where he ran his 50th parkrun!), Brian Halpin, Alison Flynn, John Shier (who achieved a PB), Kat Reddan, Conor Lovett, Michelle Kennedy, Patrick Noonan ran Limerick parkrun, and Shane O’Sullivan (who achieved a PB), Brian Halpin, Louise Matthews, Alison Flynn (who achieved a PB), John Shier, Catherine Sheehan, John Sheehan, June Clifford, Kat Reddan, and Conor Lovett all ran Mungret parkrun.

On Saturday, Lorraine Moran ran Killarney House parkrun, David Rohan ran Clarisford parkrun, Andrew McMahon, Brian Halpin, Alison Flynn, Claire Knight, Ger Meehan, Patrick Noonan, Seamus O’Flynn, Marion O’Halloran, Oran Kennedy, Michelle Kennedy, and Eileen Reeves all ran Limerick parkrun, while Gerard O’Shea, Jonathan Coleman, Louise Matthews, John Sheehan, Catherine Sheehan, John Higgins, and Meena Verma ran Mungret parkrun.

 

 

Club membership

Club membership for 2020 is now due and should be paid before the end of January. Membership has many benefits and if you are not registered you are not covered by Athletics Ireland insurance and therefore you can’t train with the club. You can join Dooneen or renew your membership online.

Adult Training​
Adult Training resumes this week at 6:15pm on Tuesday & 7pm on Thursday in UL. Fit4Life/Meet and Train also resumes this week in Mungret at 6:15pm. New members & beginners are always welcome. Contact Dooneen Facebook page for more details.

Juvenile Training
