Limerick Novice & Masters Cross-Country Championships

This year’s County Juvenile Uneven Age, Novice & Masters Championships were hosted by An Brú A.C. and Kilmallock A.C. in Bulgaden on Sunday.

U17 Girls

Sarah Dillon, Sarah Butler, and Meabh Keogh finished 1st, 2nd, and 3rd respectively.

U19 Boys

Kevin O’Grady and Andrew McMahon finished 1st and 2nd respectively.

Women

Karen Raine and Louise Matthews finished 2nd and 3rd respectively in the Novice category.

There was a Dooneen 1-2-3 in the Masters category, with Rosemary Ryan winning the title, followed by Tracey Johnson in 2nd, and Liz Hussey in 3rd. Next home for Dooneen was Karen Raine, followed by Louise Matthews, Verena Tarpey, and Marie Keane. Tracey Johnson won the O35 category, Rosemary Ryan won the O40 category with Liz Hussey 2nd and Karen Raine 3rd, and Louise Matthews finished 2nd in the O45 category with Verena Tarpey 3rd. The club won team gold in both the 035 and O45 categories.

Men

Thomas Klimas finished 3rd in the Novice category, followed by Joe O’Brien, Niall Harris, and John Shier, with the team winning gold.

In the Masters category, Thomas Klimas was first home from the club, followed by Joe O’Brien, Dermot Kearns, Niall Harris, and John Shier. Joe O’Brien won the O35 category with Niall Harris 3rd, Dermot Kearns won the O45 category, and John Shier won the O50 category. Dooneen won team gold.

Joe Chawke and David Rohan ran Hasenheide parkrun in Berlin, Catherine Sheehan and John Sheehan ran Glen River parkrun, Seamus O’Flynn ran Coole parkrun, Shona O’Flynn ran a PB at Lees Road parkrun, Shane O’Sullivan, Niall Harris, Alison Flynn, Claire Knight, Ger Meehan, Eileen Reeves, Philip Ryan, Conor Lovett, Marion O’Halloran, and Breda Leo all ran Limerick parkrun, while Brian Halpin, Gerard O’Shea (who ran a PB), Anthony Harty, Kelvin O’Carroll, Sarah Butler (who ran a PB), Louise Matthews, Meena Verma, Angela Higgins (who ran a PB), Claire Forward all ran Mungret parkrun.

Adult Training

Adult Training takes place on Tuesdays at 6:15pm & Thursdays at 7pm in UL. Long run takes place every Sunday at 9am in UL or Cratloe. Fit4Life/Meet and Train takes place on Fridays in Mungret at 6:15pm. New members & beginners are always welcome. Contact Dooneen Facebook page for more details.

Juvenile Training

Juvenile training takes place every Monday night at 7pm & every Thursday night at 6.30pm in Crescent Comprehensive. There is also training at the track in UL every Saturday at 10am. Talk on Sport & Exercise Nutrition

This Wednesday, October 16th at 7pm, Dooneen AC welcome Dr Catherine Norton University of Limerick to St Paul’s School Dooradoyle to give a talk on Sport and Exercise Nutrition. This is an open talk, free to all members of Dooneen AC and we encourage all parents, coaches and athletes from under 12 upwards to attend.
