Run Galway Bay

This event took place on Saturday, and encompassed a range of distances.

There was a turnout of over 1400 in the 10K. Well done to Aly Hogan O’Curry, who ran 1:03:51.

Over 1100 people took part in the half-marathon. Well done to Karen Raine, who ran a PB of 1:37:33, and to John Higgins, who ran a PB of 1:55:47.

Race Your Pace

This event included 10- and 20-mile options, and took place around the village of Quin, Co. Clare on Saturday.

Running from the club in the 10-mile were Shona O’Flynn (1:20 pacer), Breda Leo, who ran 1:31:28, and Ger Meehan (1:40 pacer).

In the 20-mile, Joe O’Brien was first home from Dooneen in 3rd place in 2:16:35, followed by Elaine Lyons in 3:00:12, and Katherine Reddan in 3:55:55.

SMRC Urban Run 5K & 10K

This popular event known for its flat, fast routes took place on Sunday.

There was a Dooneen 1-2 in the 5K, with Kevin O’Grady winning in 16:28, and Shane O’Sullivan finishing 2nd in 17:00. Dooneen also made the podium in the women’s race with Ann MacPhail winning in 18:58, and Sarah Butler finishing 3rd in 21:10. Ger O’Shea was next home in 21:43.

In the 10K, Niall Harris was first home from Dooneen in 37:24, followed by Thomas Klimas in 49:42, Agnieszka Klimas in 49:42, John Shier in 49:56, Ger Meehan in 51:19, Catherine Sheehan in 53:43, Eileen Reeves in 55:08, Shona O’Flynn in 55:09, Katherine Reddan in 57:08, Conor Lovett in 1:00:30, and Marion O’Halloran in 1:06:10.

Well done to all.

 

 

parkrun
Niall Harris, Alison Flynn, Shane O’Sullivan, and Eileen Reeves ran Limerick parkrun, while Catherine Sheehan, John Sheehan, David Rohan, Angela Higgins, Claire Forward, Margaret Riordan, and Marion O’Halloran all ran Mungret parkrun.

Adult Training​
Adult Training takes place on Tuesdays at 6:15pm & Thursdays at 7pm in UL. Long run takes place every Sunday at 9am in UL or Cratloe. Fit4Life/Meet and Train takes place on Fridays in Mungret at 6:15pm. New members & beginners are always welcome. Contact Dooneen Facebook page for more details.

Juvenile Training
Juvenile training takes place every Monday night at 7pm & every Thursday night at 6.30pm in Crescent Comprehensive. There is also training at the track in UL every Saturday at 10am. Athletes must be aged 7 years or older on or before 31st December 2019 to be eligible to join. All levels of ability are welcome. Contact Dooneen Facebook page for more details.

Talk on Sport & Exercise Nutrition

Next Wednesday, October 16th at 7pm, Dooneen AC welcome Dr Catherine Norton University of Limerick to St Paul’s School Dooradoyle to give a talk on Sport and Exercise Nutrition. This is an open talk, free to all members of Dooneen AC and we encourage all parents, coaches and athletes from under 12 upwards to attend.
