Community Games Finals Part two

Posted on Aug 25, 2014

The second weekend of the National Community Games finals took place in Athlone from Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th and what a great weekend it was, Dooneen were well represented in many races and it was lovely to see them represent their county with such pride. Medals are hard to get in the community games as the standard is so high, but many kids did just that
Ellen Lynch ran a superb race in her 600m, there was no stopping her and she was strong throughout, with tears of joy she finished in 1st place Susan O’Neill was back again this year with the Javelin and it seems she has found another strenght as she finished in 4th place

Eoghan Beary ran a strong race in the Marathon u16 in what is a very difficult course, he stayed with the top group throughout and finished 4th.

Many more competed individually but fell short of the medals, well done to Rachael O’Connor, Emer O’Conor, Lochlainn O’Keefe, Peter Kiely, Nicole Mcnamara, Tony Mambouana, Sinead Roche, Kíla Curran, Josh Boland, Brianagh Collins, Colm Quilligan, Karl Buckley, Zara Lappin and Cathal Locke. U12 Relay of Kelvin, Richmond, Posi and Ciaran, U 10 Mixed relay of Marcus, Sam, Denis, Maria, Sarah and Victoria. Just getting to a Community Games National Final is an achievement in itself so well done to all, its great to see such a long list of Dooneen names.
