Run In The Dark 5K & 10K

This event took place in UL on Wednesday evening. Among those running were Mary Duggan, Ger Meehan, and John Shier. Well done to everybody who took part.

Munster Masters Cross-Country Championships

These championships took place in Beaufort, Co. Kerry on Sunday. First home from the club was Rosemary Ryan, followed by Shóna Keane (2nd in her age category), Tracey Johnson, Karen Raine, and Verena Tarpey. Dooneen won the club team category. The Limerick county team won Munster silver with Fiona Bourke of West Limerick A.C.

James Connolly represented Dooneen in the men’s race, and was part of the Limerick county team who finished 2nd.

Tenerife Marathon
Congratulations and well done to Alison Flynn, who ran the Tenerfie Marathon in 3:45:38 on Saturday.

Munster Senior & Juvenile Uneven Age Cross-Country Championships These championships took place in Conna, Co. Cork on Sunday. Congratulations and well done to Kevin O’Grady, who finished 6th in the U19 boys’ race.

Dooneen A.C. Senior Notes 04/11/2019

New York Marathon
Two Dooneen members took on the New York Marathon on Sunday. Shane Ryan ran a huge PB of 2:59:25 and Katherine Reddan finished in 5:00:44. Congratulations and well done to both athletes.

Limerick Athletics County Indoor Championships

These championships took place in Nenagh on Sunday.

Diro and Tessie Lawal, finished 1st and 2nd respectively in the U17 boys’ 60m in 7.34 and 7.68, and also in the 200m in 24.01 and 24.98, followed by Luke Tuohy in 28.34. Luke won the U17 boys’ 400m in 1:08.46.

Shane O’Sullivan finished 3rd in the Senior Men’s 800m in 2:10.32, and 2nd in the 1500m in 4:30.25.

KBC Dublin City Marathon 2019
The 40th Dublin City Marathon took place on Sunday with a huge field of over 20,000. Thankfully weather conditions were almost perfect for running which lead to some great times. First Irishman home was Stephen Scullion of Clonliffe Harriers in a brilliant time of 2:12:01, first Irish woman home was Aoife Cooke of Eagle A.C. in a great time of 2:32:34.
First home for Dooneen A.C. was Shóna Keane going under the magical 3 hour mark in a PB of 2:56:34, next home was Joe O’Brien in 3:05:36, followed by Kevin Johnson in 3:08:57, Mike Griffin in a PB of 3:25:14, Jonathan Coleman in a PB of 3:29:39, Karen O’Flynn in 3:35:47 on her debut, Shona O’Flynn in 3:38:32, Ronan McAvinue in 3:42:38, Elaine Lyons in a PB of 3:54:36, John Shier in a PB of 4:14:29, Ger Harte in a PB of 4:14:46, David Rohan in 4:16:56, Eileen Reeves in 4:21:00, David Toomey in 5:09:16 and Ger Meehan in 5:13:18. A huge congratulations to all athletes, well done.

Munster Juvenile Even Age, U23 & Novice Cross-Country Championships

This year’s championships were held in Limerick Racecourse on Sunday.

U16 Girls

Maria Campbell, Sarah Hosey, Laura Southern, Sarah Dillon, and Sarah Butler competed, finishing 5th in the club category.

Novice Women

Sinéad McDermott and Karen Raine competed, and were part of the county team who finished 3rd.

Novice Men

Dooneen were represented by Joe O’Brien in the Novice Men’s race.

Congratulations and well done to everybody!

Spar Autumn Open International Cross-Country Festival

This event took place in the National Sports Campus in Abbotstown on Sunday.

Well done to Eoghan Beary, who competed in the Senior Men’s race.

Limerick Novice & Masters Cross-Country Championships

This year’s County Juvenile Uneven Age, Novice & Masters Championships were hosted by An Brú A.C. and Kilmallock A.C. in Bulgaden on Sunday.

U17 Girls

Sarah Dillon, Sarah Butler, and Meabh Keogh finished 1st, 2nd, and 3rd respectively.

U19 Boys

Kevin O’Grady and Andrew McMahon finished 1st and 2nd respectively.

Women

Karen Raine and Louise Matthews finished 2nd and 3rd respectively in the Novice category.

There was a Dooneen 1-2-3 in the Masters category, with Rosemary Ryan winning the title, followed by Tracey Johnson in 2nd, and Liz Hussey in 3rd. Next home for Dooneen was Karen Raine, followed by Louise Matthews, Verena Tarpey, and Marie Keane. Tracey Johnson won the O35 category, Rosemary Ryan won the O40 category with Liz Hussey 2nd and Karen Raine 3rd, and Louise Matthews finished 2nd in the O45 category with Verena Tarpey 3rd. The club won team gold in both the 035 and O45 categories.

Men

Thomas Klimas finished 3rd in the Novice category, followed by Joe O’Brien, Niall Harris, and John Shier, with the team winning gold.

In the Masters category, Thomas Klimas was first home from the club, followed by Joe O’Brien, Dermot Kearns, Niall Harris, and John Shier. Joe O’Brien won the O35 category with Niall Harris 3rd, Dermot Kearns won the O45 category, and John Shier won the O50 category. Dooneen won team gold.
